Join The Go Initiative for the Thighs Before Pies 8th Annual Turkey Trot! Held on Thanksgiving Day (November 28th | 10am) at IOOF park in Gunnison, Colorado. This years fundraiser will be for our very own GOgirls and other GO Initiative Youth Outdoor Programs! Not a runner? We have a 0k option this year as part of our fundraiser as well!
Gather your friends & family for a turkeylicious outdoor challenge! Take on the 5k run or the 1k wobble. Entrants receive commemorative goodies, children receive participation awards.

The Go Initiative is proud to host the 8th annual Thighs Before Pies Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day, November 28th, 2024. Community members of all ages + abilities are encouraged to take on the 5K run or 1K Gobble Wobble challenge. We even have a 0K Gravy Train for non-runners who would like to support this fundraiser, see details below!
MISSION
Proceeds from this event support the Go Girls mountain bike program. This program strives to provide opportunities to optimize strong body and mind through functional fitness, and healthy lifestyle guidance and achievement. We believe that focusing our resources on youth programs will create a ripple effect of well-being within our community.
NEW THIS YEAR! Time to sprint into some fundraising fun, Turkey Trotters and GO Initiative champions! Peer-to-peer fundraising is an easy and fun way to make a big impact—it’s like passing the baton to your friends and family to help support a cause you care about. Wednesday 11/27/24
4:00-6:00 pm – Bib pickup at Double Shot Cyclery
**Please note: there will be no bib pickup morning of the race, thank you!**
Thursday 11/28/24
10:00 am – 5k Turkey Trot Start (this race is timed)
10:30 am – 1k Gobble Wobble Start (this is a fun run! and not timed)
Both races start and end at IOOF Park in Gunnison (124 E. Virginia Ave)
REGISTRATION
$35 before November 4; $45 after November 4 – 5K (includes commemorative buff, mug, sticker)
$10 – 1K (includes participation award)
Top 3 female/male racers in the 5K;
Top 3 girls/boys under 12 in the 5K;
will be crowned.
Start: IOOF Park
East on Virginia Ave (9 blocks)
North to East Georgia Ave (2 blocks)
East on East Georgia Ave, then North to the Canal Trail
Turn around after .7 miles
Same route back to IOOF Park
1K Route: see map for approximate 1K turnaround. A volunteer course marshal will be at this location to indicate your turn around point.
